Ste Dawson

Stephen joins LCE excited to embrace a whole new challenge, following a career in professional football which has spanned over 20 years. Whilst professional football to education may sound like a stark contrast, Stephen has always been emphatically committed to leading his teams towards their optimum performance, captaining numerous clubs throughout his career.

Stephen moved to England at 16 years of age, leaving his native Dublin, Ireland to sign for Leicester City Football Club in the English Premier Division. Whilst this was a hugely exciting opportunity for him, he maintains that the foundations instilled in him by his parents throughout his childhood will always remain the most influential aspect of him becoming the compassionate and dedicated man he is today.

Having grown up in an environment surrounded by drugs and anti-social behaviour, he saw the challenges that young people have to overcome and the impact it can have on their future without the right support systems in place. With this, Stephen always knew that once his career in football came to an end, he aimed to have the privileged opportunity to support future generations. Stephen is committed to utilising his experience, and the discipline required to maintain a professional football career for so long, to enlighten impressionable and vulnerable pupils as to what is required to achieve their optimum performance in life.

Stephen has expressed his excitement to join a unique provision. He is completely aligned with the LCE values and believes with full confidence that all pupils can raise their performance with the appropriate support, mindset, and inner strength.
